About the Author
V. V. Ganeshananthan (she/her) is the author of the novels Brotherless Night (winner of the 2024 Women’s Prize for Fiction, the 2024 Carol Shields Prize, the 2023 Asian Prize for Fiction, a New York Times Editors’ Choice, and an NPR Book of the Year) and Love Marriage (longlisted for the Women’s Prize and named one of the best books of the year byThe Washington Post). Her work has appeared in Granta, The New York Times, and The Best American Nonrequired Reading, among other publications.
A former vice president of the South Asian Journalists Association, she has also served on the board of the Asian American Writers’ Workshop, and is presently a member of the boards of the American Institute for Sri Lankan Studies and the Minnesota Prison Writing Workshop. The National Endowment for the Arts, the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard, Yaddo, MacDowell, and the American Academy in Berlin have awarded her fellowships. She has been visiting faculty at the Helen Zell Writers’ Program at the University of Michigan and at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, and now teaches in the MFA program at the University of Minnesota, where she is a McKnight Presidential Fellow and professor of English. She co-hosts the Fiction/Non/Fiction podcast on Literary Hub, which is about the intersection of literature and the news.
We’re pleased to partner with Valley Bookseller on this event. Representatives will be at the breakfast selling copies of the author’s books, with the opportunity for you to have them signed by the author! Book sales and optional author meet & greet will take place after the program.

The menu includes scrambled eggs, applewood bacon, and Potatoes O’Brien, served with seasonal fresh fruit and assorted baked pastries. If you have any dietary restrictions, please email ccarroll@rclfriends.org with your request and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
Raffle
You could win! This event will feature a raffle with exciting items including a $350 gift card to R.F. Moeller Jewelers, a round of golf for four with a cart at Midland Hills Country Club, themed book baskets, sets of puzzles and games, plus local restaurant, coffee shop, brewery and florist gift cards. Raffle tickets will be available on site for $5 each or $20 for five tickets, payable by cash, check, or debit card only (credit cards not accepted). Please plan ahead if you wish to enter for the chance to win prizes!

Midland Hills Country Club is at 2001 Fulham Street, Roseville, MN 55113 and has ample parking. Park for free and join us via the club’s banquet entrance on the far right/east side of the building for fastest access (the event is also accessible via the main entrance).
IRS Regulations on Ticket Purchases
The Ramsey County Library Friends organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The estimated fair market value of each ticket is $30 and of each table is $240; the remainder is considered a donation and is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Please note that due to IRS regulations, payment for event tickets and tables may not be made with distributions from Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) or Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs). DAFs and QCDs may be used for sponsorship if the use of the tickets is waived by the donor. Please consult with your tax advisor for any questions. Thank you for your understanding!
